Kimchi-jjigae
김치찌개 – Kimchi-jjigae (Kimchi Stew)
김치찌개 (Kimchi-jjigae) is very special for me. It was the first authentic Korean dish I tried when I had my first ever dinner here in South Korea.
It was the main food served after the freshmen orientation held by Gyeoungju Univeristy at the Concorde Hotel in Bomun Lake in Gyeongjusi on March 3, 2013.
Kimchi-jjigae is kind of stew where kimchi (preferably older or more fermented) is mixed with pork, seafood and diced tofu. I could handle spicy foods like this one. There are two problems though whenever I eat it. First, I would sweat too much. Second and last, I need to order extra rice.
Garlic, sliced spring onions, bean paste, and red pepper paste are used as seasoning for this dish.
